  • IWATE SNOW FESTIVAL
    Symbolic event of winter in Iwate, "Iwate Snow Festival" will be held in Koiwai Farm, January 31st to February 8th.
    One of the Greatest 5 Snow Festivals in Tohoku, the Iwate Snow Festival is held at Koiwai Farm in early February. There are many large and small snow sculpture,. You can also have fun sledding down a large snow slide, riding a horse sleigh, or riding a snow train. There are many food and drink stands as well.
    The snow festival is smaller than Sapporo Snow Festival but it’s worth to seeing.

  • A CASTEL TOWN "MORIOKA"
    The tour will take you to a castle town “Morioka”. Morioka is a historical city, but there are no more castles in other cities. There has been alive craft works and sake brewery since then.

  • HADAKA-MAIRI
    The Hadaka-Mairi Pilgrimage has been handed down in Morioka since 200~300 years. It also called “Kan-Mairi” by local people. It means pilgrimage in cold weather. Co-workers, school clubs, or organizations usually form groups to participate in the event. Men are dressed only in thin white under wear, a straw belt, and straw sandals.
    The Hadaka-Mairi is a small New Year’s event, people gather to rid themselves of bad luck as well as pray to the gods for a good grain harvest, good health and good fortune.
